Racine – Martha A. Gomez, 70, passed away at WFH-All Saints on Sunday, May 2, 2010. She was born in Laredo, Texas on February 22, 1940, daughter of the late Jesus and Margarita (nee: Castillo) Valdez. Martha had been a Racine resident for many years, and worked as a counselor at the Taylor Home. She found joy in her family, flowers, and her garden. She was a member of Cristo Rey Parish. She is survived by her former husband, Ramiro Gomez, Sr.; their children, Ricardo (Lisa) Sanchez, Jr., Rodolfo Gomez, Sr., Rolando (Norma) Gomez, Sr., Roberto (Juanita) Gomez, Naomi (Frank) Sanchez, and Ramiro Gomez, Jr.; 14 grandchildren, Ricardo, Jesse, Daniel, Lindsay, James, Rodolfo, Jr., Misty, Rolando, Jr., Leonardo, Christy, Rodolfo, Anita, Freddy, and Armandina; many great-grandchildren; 5 sisters, Juanita (James Tehan) Valdez, Lola Koski, Josie (Gerald) Currier, Norma Valdez, and Rosa Valdez; 4 brothers, Jesse (Diane) Florencio Valdez, Raul (Shelly) Valdez, and Fernando (Gloria) Valdez; as well as many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 7, 2010 at Cristo Rey Parish, 800 College Avenue. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Caledonia. Visitations will be in the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5-7pm, with a rosary prayer service at 7pm, and in the church on Friday beginning at 10a.m. Memorials to Cristo Rey Parish have been suggested.
