Martha Nowosad

Nov 9, 1925 – Dec 15, 2008

Racine – Martha Nowosad, 83, passed away at Ridgewood Care Center on Monday, December 15, 2008. She was born in Germany on November 9, 1925. In Germany on May 30, 1949 she was married to Peter Nowosad, and in 1950 they moved to Racine. Martha worked for many years at St. Mary’s Hospital in Racine as a Central Supply Technician. She also had worked at Rainfair, and In-Sink-Erator after arriving from Germany. Martha enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting, and word search puzzles. Most of all she enjoyed being a mother and grandmother. She was a long-time faithful member of 1st Evangelical Lutheran Church. She is survived by her children, Heide (Paul) Herman of Racine, Ron (Regina) Nowosad of San Diego, California, and Sue (Tom) Furuglyas of Racine; grandchildren, Jonathan (Melanie) Herman of Milwaukee, Julia (Eric) Austin of New Berlin, Sarah Nowosad of San Diego, Valerie Peterson, William Peterson, and Peter Furuglyas all of Racine; as well as other relatives and friends here and in Germany. Her husband, Peter, preceded her in death in 1977. Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, December 19, 2008 at 1st Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. John Roekle officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Private committal will take place at Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to 1st Evangelical Lutheran Church are encouraged.
