MOUNT PLEASANT and UNION GROVE – Mary Clare Michna, 68, passed away at WFH – All Saints on Sunday, October 18, 2015.
She was born in Racine on August 21, 1947, the daughter of the late Clarence and Mildred (nee: Thompson) Michna. Mary Clare graduated from Horlick High School and received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Arizona. She spent a majority of her adulthood working as a school counselor in Ripon, Wisconsin. Mary Clare was also fluent in French.
Mary Clare will always be remembered her kindness, her dedication to helping students, her fluency in French and for her love and compassion toward animals. She had many dogs, cats and even horses in her younger years and considered them as dear members of her family.
She is survived by her sister, Marilyn Michna of Mount Pleasant; her nieces and nephew, Debra (Brad) Moody Hetlet of Burlington, Diane (Brett) Stanczak of Lake Geneva, Sandra (Eugene) Heintz of Racine and John Michna of Mount Pleasant. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sister, James Michna, John Michna, Donald (Joan) Michna and Doris (Richard) Hoffman.
Family and friends are invited to meet in the chapel of West Lawn Memorial Park on Friday, October 23, 2015 for a service celebrating and remembering Mary Clare’s life. There will be a visitation and time to meet with her family from 1:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow. Memorials have been suggested to the Wisconsin Humane Society (4500 W Wisconsin Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53208).
Mary Clare’s family extends a heartfelt thank you to Oak Ridge Care Center and Wheaton Franciscan Hospice for the loving and professional attention she received while under their care.
