Racine – Mary A. Edwards passed away at Lincoln Village Convalescent Center on Wednesday, December 21, 2005 at the age of 91. She was born in Gas City, Indiana on July 18, 1914, daughter of the late Dan and Margaret (nee: Baker) Jones. Mary lived most of her life in Indiana, moving to Racine in 1986 with her husband, James, to be nearer to their son, David. When not devoting her time to her family and home, Mary worked as a cashier at Kroger and Solms Brothers grocery stores. She enjoyed taking care of her garden, volunteering at the VA Hospital, traveling, and her involvement in church life. She liked to watch college basketball and football, and was an avid Notre Dame fan. Mary will be missed by her loving husband of 70 years, James S. Edwards; their grandchildren, James B. (Barbara) Edwards of Round Rock, Texas, Daniel J. (Valerie) Edwards of West Allis, Ronald Edwards, and Angela (Enoc) Garcia both of Racine; great grandchildren, David, Matthew, Benjamin, Adrianna, William, Samuel, and Isabella Edwards, Vana, Esperanza, and Ruby Garcia; her former daughters-in-law, Constance Edwards, and Jo Ann Edwards both of Racine; many other relatives and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her son, David J. Edwards, brothers, Wendel Jones and David Jones; and sisters, Margaret Marshall and Lucille Weigand. The funeral mass for Mary A. Edwards will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, December 26, 2005 at St. Lucy's Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Avenue, with Father Mark Jones officiating. All are invited to visit with the family in the church beginning at 5:00 p.m. Entombment at Holy Cross Cemetery (Hwy 32) will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 27, 2005. Memorials to St. Lucy's School have been suggested.
