Racine – Mary Grace (nee: Tripodi) Dominici, age 81, beloved wife of Dino; passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center on Monday, Dec. 16, 2013 following a 13-year battle with cancer.
Grace was born in Castel Ruggero, Salerno, Italy on November 5, 1932 to the late Carmine and Maria Amalia (nee: Ponzo) Tripodi. On April 24, 1954 in Holy Rosary Catholic Church – Kenosha, she was united in marriage with the love of her life, Dino Dominici. Together, Grace and Dino owned and operated Dino’s Italian Restaurant on 16th Street for over 58 years. Proud of her Italian heritage, Grace was a member of the Vittoria Colonna. She was a devote Catholic and a member of St. Richard Catholic Church.
She lived and was very happy being a committed wife, mother and grandmother. She was an incredible cook eager to carry on and pass along tradition she brought with her from Italy to her children and grandchildren. She provided a warm and caring family environment for those she loved and will be remembered for her kindness, tireless efforts and unconditional love. Grace was genuinely the true matriarch of the family who loved spending time with close friends from Italy, getting families together, preparing wonderful food and enjoying memorable moments.
Surviving are her loving husband of nearly 60 years, Dino; their children, Rosalie (Jim) Ferderer of Racine; Vivian (Leopoldo Sacripanti) Dominici of Fano, Italy; and Peter Dominici of Racine; grandchildren, Michael J., David J. and Amanda Rose Ferderer; Michelle and Jacqueline Sacripanti; Nika M. and Dino J. Dominici; sisters, Rosetta Cavaliere, Lucia Napoli and Lillina Laurenzi; brother, Don Pietro Tripodi; brother-in-law, Leonardo Dominici; many nieces and nephews, other relatives, former customers and many friends – too numerous to mention by name. In addition to her parents, Grace was preceded in death by her brothers, Antonio and Tommaso Tripodi; and by Dino’s parents, Rosalia and Pietro (nee: Ticchiarelli) Dominici.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Richard Catholic Church, 1503 Grand Avenue, on Friday, Dec. 20, 2013 at 10:00 am with Rev. Ronald J. Gramza officiating. Entombment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Thursday (TONIGHT) from 4:00 – 7:00 pm (Vittoria Colonna service at 6 pm) and in the church Friday from 9:00 – 10:00 am. In memory of Grace, memorials to St. Richard’s Parish or to Wheaton Franciscan Hospice have been suggested.
A heartfelt note of thanks to Dr. Young Choi, Wheaton Franciscan Cancer Center and Hospice for the compassionate care and support extended in Grace’s time of need. May God bless all of you!
