Mary Jo Jarman (nee: Brumby) entered this world on April 2, 1964, in Racine, WI.  She was welcomed by her parents, Billy Stone and Lois V Brumby.  Mary Jo was a proud graduate of Washington Park High School, and attended Milwaukee Area Technical College, Milwaukee, WI., where she pursued her Tailoring/Seamstress Certification.  Mary Jo was employed by Thermal Transfer for over 14 years until her health began to decline physically.

Mary was very opinionated, stern in her decisions; she also possessed an impeccable sense for fashion and interior decorating. Mary Jo was most proud of purchasing her home as a single mother.

At an early age Mary Jo followed her mother, and became a member of New Omega Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Fred L. Richmond Sr.   Mary Jo was an active member of the Ushers Board and a proud member of the International Masons & Order of the Eastern Star, inspiring her to live with purpose and compassion.

On Valentine’s Day in 2014, Mary Jo united in holy matrimony to the love of her life, Jeffrey Jarman. Jeff and Mary Jo collectively decided to make the journey to Minneapolis, MN where she was able to be close to her beloved son, Demetre, and connected with High Praise Ministries – The Destiny Center, guided by the leadership of Apostle Dewayne and Parthia Hill.

Jeff and Mary Jo enjoyed eleven years of marriage, which was abruptly interrupted by a diagnosis of colon cancer.  Mary Jo fought a courageous four-year battle, and on June 16, 2025, The Lord called her to eternal rest.  She was surrounded by her husband, son, and grandson Jordan.

Mary Jo was preceded in death by her father, Billy Stone Brumby; mother, Lois V Brumby; mother-in-law, Cleo Frazier; sister, Lois Ann Brumby; nephew, Darnell Brumby, and her sister-in-law, Valerie Oliver.

She is survived by her husband, Jeffrey; son, Demetre; cherished goddaughter, Patrice Albritton, grandchildren, Jordan, Jayden, and Jewel Albritton; siblings, Shirley Ann Brumby, Kenneth Ray Brumby, Jerry Brumby, Rondell (Leona) Brumby; special niece, Sharon (Clifton) Smelley; best friend, Bruce and Gigi Oliver; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends, too many to name, but she loved her family dearly.

Mary Jo’s vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

    Dear Demetre,
I remember your mom & I sitting together in the bleachers as you and my April graduated high school. We laughed together through tears.- your mom was absolutely very proud of you! I will always remember coming over to say, “ Hey” to your mom and she was throwing raw chicken around in a big bowl like nobody’s business- doing a little dance and putting all her arm power and heart into the creation she was going to serve the two of you for dinner that night. She looked so happy.
When I was younger I didn’t always have the right words and so sometimes special moments with special people were missed. I’ll always be grateful to have shared some special & powerful moments- both happy & sad- with love.y souls such as your mom and you, Demetre. You were always a blessing to your mother- a gift from God. Be comforted to know you meant so much to each other & you both knew it!

Testimonials

December 19, 2016

I can’t say enough good things about Michael and his staff. They go above and beyond what is required of a funeral home. He has always met my desires and goes beyond what I ask. He always makes it a little more special. He has blessed me and my family many times and comforted us when we are aching because of our loss. I am always confident that he will do his very best, and he always has.
Thank you Michael and staff. May you all have a Blessed Christmas season and New Year

Julie Weyhrauch
