Mary Joan Schulz

Aug 1, 1920 – Feb 9, 2012

Racine- Mary Joan (nee: Zamagne) Schulz, 91, passed away peacefully at Franciscan Villa Nursing Home in South Milwaukee on Thursday, February 9, 2012. 

Mary was born in Racine on August 1, 1920 to the late Peter and Caroline (nee: Zanoni) Zamagne, Sr. In 1938, she married Leonard Zellman who preceded her in death in 1983. In 1993, she married Edward Schulz who died in 2001. Mary lived most of her life in Barrington, IL before returning to Racine in 1993. 

During her working career, Mary was employed as a supervisor for Little Fuse Company.   She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. With a great love for flowers, she enjoyed gardening. Passionate about her canine companions, Mary fondly raised Toy Poodles and German Shepherds. 

Surviving are her sister, Sandra Polkky of Franksville; nieces and nephews, Dianne (Dennis) Oertel of Necedah; Jeffrey (Judy) Polkky of Reedsburg; John (Marnie) Polkky of Hancock, MI; Phillip (Cathy) Zamagne of Sacramento, CA; and Carol Wapniarski of Japan. 

In addition to her parents and husbands, Mary was preceded in death by her sisters, Rose (Lewis) Cowan and Helen Zamagne; brother, Peter (Beverly) Zamagne, Jr.; and brother-in-law, Reynold Polkky. 

In accordance with Mary’s wishes, private services were held in the funeral home on Saturday, March 3, 2012 with Rev. Mark R. Jones. Interment was held in Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. In memory of Mary, memorials to the American Cancer Society has been suggested.
