Service Details
In lieu of a traditional service, Mary wished to have a memorial gathering for family and friends, which will be held on Thursday, February 19th from 2-6pm in the banquet room at Buckets Pub, 2301 Lathrop Avenue, Racine.

Mary Kathleen Overstreet, age 70, passed away after a battle with her broken heart on February 5, 2026, at Select Specialty Hospital, just two and a half months after the loss of her husband and forever love, Douglas. Her heart never truly healed after losing him, and she joined him with the same quiet devotion that defined her life.
Mary was born on May 29, 1955, in Racine, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Clyde L. Lyon and Martha J. Lyon (Adamski). Mary dedicated her life to caring for others. She earned numerous certificates from Gateway College and spent more than 20 years working as a CNA, a role she approached with deep compassion and selflessness. Even after retiring from nursing, her nurturing spirit never slowed. She ran childcare out of her home for many years to come. In her spare time, Mary found peace and joy in gardening. Her home and yard were always filled with the most beautiful plants and flowers. Above all else, Mary cherished her family. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren held her heart completely, and being “Grandma” was the role she loved most.
On April 6, 1992, Mary was united in marriage to Douglas Overstreet, her soulmate and forever love, after sharing many years together prior to marriage. Their bond was unwavering, and her life was forever shaped by the love they shared. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Douglas on November 24, 2025, and by her parents, Clyde and Martha Lyon. She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Kathleen “Trina” Cushenberry; her son, Jonah Holub; her brother, Jim (Karen) Lyon; five grandchildren, Patricia, Brandon, Hayllie, Mia, and Tia Stindle; ten great-grandchildren; along with cousins, nieces, nephews, and other loving family members.
