Mary Sadlon

Dec 16, 1920 – Apr 5, 2011

RACINE – Mary (nee: Sivik) Sadlon, 90, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 5, 2011, surrounded by her family.

Mary was born on December 16, 1920, in Yonkers, N.Y. She was united in marriage to Stephen Sadlon on June 4, 1950.

Mary was a member of St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in Milwaukee.  She was employed by Massey-Ferguson, and later, by Zayre’s for 17 years, retiring in 1988.  Mary was very social and always  put others before herself. She will be remembered for her compassionate heart – forever dedicated to helping others by performing mission work for over 50 years.  She enjoyed traveling and sharing time with family and friends. Mary will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her and will remain in our hearts.

Beloved wife of Stephen; loving mother of 7 children; Mary Kolton Karpowicz, Stephen (Jody) Sadlon, Helen (Ron) Wickline, Theresa (Vincent) Trentadue, Joseph (Janet Johnson) Sadlon, Rose  (David Baumann) Sadlon, Michael Sadlon; caring grandmother to 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; sister of Nancy Sivik; and sister-in-law of Andrew Crill. Further survived by other relatives and friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her sisters, Rose Sivik and Helen Crill ; brothers, John and Steve Sivik;  brother-in-law, John (Mary) Sadlon; and nephews, John Sadlon Jr. and Edward Sadlon.

Funeral service will be held at St. Lucy’s Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Avenue, in Racine on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at 10:00 am with the Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating.  Interment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park .Visitation with the family will be at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Friday, April 8, 2011 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm  (Rosary recited at 7 pm) and in the church on Saturday from 9-10 am. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested mass intentions for Mary or memorials to St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church – Milwaukee or to one’s favorite charity. The family would like to thank Dr. Sarada Vemareddy and Seasons Hospice- Palliative Care for their loving compassionate care and support during her final days.

Mrs. Sadlon was one of the most genuinely nice people I ever had the pleasure to meet. I have so many fond memories of her, and can always hear her pleasant voice when I think fondly of her and those days. Peace.
