Mary Zamagne

Jul 27, 1909 – May 25, 2007

Racine- Mary (nee: Commodore) Zamagne, 97, passed away at Oak Ridge Care Center on Friday, May 25, 2007. Mary was born in Pennsylvania on July 27, 1909 to the late James and Catherine Commodore. She lived in Racine most all of her life. On October 11, 1924, she was united in marriage with John Zamagne, who preceded her in death on March 26, 1996. Mary was formerly a member of Calvary Memorial Church. Extremely vibrant and independent, she lived in her own home until just recently. Mary was a music enthusiast with an incredible gift of playing the organ. She enjoyed crocheting and was a phenomenal Italian cook. Above all, Mary loved and cherished being in the surroundings of her entire family. Surviving are her son-in-law, Marvin Applin; daughter-in-law, Patricia Zamagne; grandchildren, Glenn (Alice) Applin, Gina (Richard) Anderson, Lisa (Tim) Hyland, Wayne (Lory) Zamagne, Wendy (Paul) Yaekel, Perry (Laura) Zamagne and John Zamagne; great-grandchildren, Harlan Applin, Jason Applin, Nathan Zamagne, Tasha Zamagne, Danita Saldivar, Jeremy Yaekel, Naomi Hensman, Joel Yaekel, Shirah Yaekel, Holley Zamagne and Terri Zamagne; 10 great-great-grandchildren; her beloved sister, Rose Olson; and by many special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by her only daughter, Lorraine B. Applin, on December 8, 2006; her only son, Richard J. Zamagne, on March 3, 2007; brothers, Joseph, Pat, Frank and Ernie Commodore; and sisters, Helen Mano and Victoria Bush. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Friday, June 1, 2007 at 10:00 am. Interment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Thursday from 6-8 pm and on Friday from 9-10 am. In memory of Mary, memorials to Wheaton Franciscan Hospice or to the American Heart Association have been suggested. A heartfelt note of thanks to the entire staffs of Wheaton Franciscan Hospice, Willowgreen, and Oak Ridge Care Center for the compassionate care and support that was so warmly extended to Grandma in her time of need.
