Obituary

Maurice C. Williams, age 48, was called home by his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, in Wausau, Wisconsin. He was born in Racine, Wisconsin, on September 23, 1973, the son of the late Robert (Bobby) W. Cunningham and Josephine Williams.

He graduated from J.I. Case High School and accepted Christ at an early age at Greater St. Luke's Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend E.E. Woods.

He was  employed by GCA Company for numerous years before an injury caused him to be disabled. When able to work again, he was employed with Intermet Racine until they closed. While working various other jobs, he came in contact with old family friends, the Arandas, who offered him to work at the clothing store they ran. They then employed him when they opened The Club at 1244 Washington Avenue. He worked various positions within The Club, including managing the bar, bartending and heading security (which he loved doing most). He loved The Club and always made many feel loved and appreciated when they came there because that's who he was as a person. He stayed a part of the The Club until they closed in 2018.

He loved the San Francisco 49'ers and the Green Bay Packers, but there was nothing more important to Maurice than family and being a father and a grandfather. He cherished his kids dearly and would always make every effort to a part of their lives no matter what, and that's why they loved him so much.

Surviving are his mother, Josephine Williams; his children, Octavia, Fantasia, Maurice, Jr, Kayla (Steve), Alexis, and Joseph Williams; his brothers, Ruston (Feliceia) Williams, Narazeah (Temeka) Cunningham, and Demetrius (Catrice) Gray; his grandchildren, Amya, Jaydon, Jerhyia, Jamaurcus, Tray, Rahkeem, Kayden, Ne'leh and King. He's further survived by a host of special cousins and friends, including the mothers of his children and many others too many to mention.

Maurice was preceded in death by his father, Robert W. Cunningham, Jr; his paternal grandparents, Robert W. and Shirley (nee: Howse) Cunningham; his maternal grandparents,  Joe Curtis and Lula Mae (nee: Sanders) Williams; his stepfather, Bernard M. Gray; his aunts, April and Virginia Cunningham, Paulette, Early Mae, and Minnie Etta Williams; his uncles, Joseph Williams, David, Paul, and  Frank Cunningham; his Godparents, Reverend E.E. and Sister Woods, and a host of other family and friends.
