Michael J.
Foss
May 13, 1966 — Sep 25, 2007
PARIS TOWNSHIP – Michael J. Foss, 41, died on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 as the result of an automobile accident in Racine County. He was born in Racine on May 13, 1966 to Herman and Barbara (nee: Andersen) Foss, Jr. and baptized into the Lutheran Faith. He was raised in Somers, confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church, and graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School in 1984. A third generation concrete craftsman, Michael was highly respected and admired by his peers. Michael owed and operated Foss Concrete, Inc., through which he developed many longstanding business relationships and friendships. Michael's Grandfather, Elmer R. Andersen, owned and operated Anderson Concrete; Elmer's Son's passed the concrete trade on to Michael. To many, Michael seemed "larger than life" and had a presence about him that was honest and true – a John Wayne sort of man; a protector and confidant. He had a keen sense for all of nature and his passions included hunting, muskie and trout fishing and golfing. Above all else, Michael cherished his family and his daughters, Jessica and Michaela were number one in his world. In addition to his loving daughters, his survivors include his parents, Herman Foss of Tipler, WI and Barbara (Otto) Tirberger of Lyles, TN; sister, Cindy Foss; brother, Mark (Kari) Foss both of Kenosha; grandmothers, Laura Everard of New Hope, MN, Edna Andersen of Elcho, WI; and former wife and mother of his daughters, Diana Foss of Kenosha. Surviving Uncles and Aunts on his Father's side include Joseph (Judy) and James (Carol) Foss, Kathy (Dick) Jacobs, and Joan (Chuck) Parker. Surviving Uncles and Aunts on his Mother's side include Dennis (Roberta) Andersen, Gilbert Andersen, Larry (Kathie) Andersen, Mark (Nellie) Andersen, and Linda (Bill) Esposito. In addition, he is survived by dear nieces, nephews, cousins and friends too numerous to list. Michael was preceded in death by an infant sister, Carlyn Mae Foss, grandfathers, Herman Foss, Sr. and Elmer R. Andersen, Aunt Nita Bishop and Uncle Jerry Foss. Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Sunday, September 30, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. for a service remembering Michael's life with Rev. Christopher Koenig officiating. There will be a visitation on Sunday before the service from Noon to 3 p.m. A private burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Somers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Michael J. Foss Children's Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 224, Salem, WI 53168.
