Racine – Reverend Dr. Milton Fitzgerald Dockery, age 59, passed away peacefully at home on April 10, 2024 with family by his side.  Milton was born on November 1, 1964 in Laurinburg, NC. The son of the late Lillie Bell Dockery and Curtis Dockery, Sr.

Milton F. Dockery attended North Carolina Central University and Miami University in Oxford, Ohio earning degrees in U.S. history with honors.  His major area of study was 20 ^th Century American History with minors in Constitutional Law, U.S. Foreign Policy, and East African History.  Milton has won several awards for academic excellence a few include the Colbert A. Jones Award and the Earl E. Thorpe Award.   In 2006, Milton was invited to Oxford University to present a study entitled "Are All Men Created Equal?: Diversity in Colonial American Society."

Milton began his teaching career at the age of 24 at North Carolina Central University. In 1995 he moved to Racine, Wisconsin and was a faculty member at the University of Wisconsin Parkside and Carthage College. During that time he also served as Special Assistant to the President at General Converters and Assemblers, Inc. in Racine and was the former Co-host of Black Nouveau on Milwaukee Public Television.  In 1999, Milton joined the faculty at Milwaukee Area Technical College and was a co-chair of the History Department and Professor for over 25-years.

Throughout his life Milton has served on several Boards and Committees. He currently served on the Educators Credit Union Board of Directors, Racine Heritage Museum Board of Directors, member of the Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity and the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, and St. Paul Baptist Church Deacon Board and Male Choir.  As a historian Milton was a major asset in the Racine County Underground Railroad Heritage Trail project serving on the Professional Women's Network for Service Underground Railroad Committee.

Milton had a strong deep singing voice and was on the North Carolina Central University Touring Choir where he met the soprano singer GeorgAnn Stinson.  He married his college sweetheart in 1995 and they made beautiful music together for 28-years.  A love, dedication, and friendship that will last for eternity.   Milton was blessed with many life experiences. He loved traveling, hiking, writing, collecting history books, and singing.  He loved his family, close friends, Saint Paul Baptist Church family, respected his co-workers, and neighbors.

Milton will be dearly missed by his loving wife GeorgAnn Stinson-Dockery, his sons Chris Tyson (NC) and O'Bryan Ratcliffe (GA), his precious sisters Gwendolyn Dockery (DC), Shirley Dockery (NC), Annie Dockery Hill (Willie) (NC), Jennifer Dockery (NC), Brothers James Dockery (Linda) (NC), Wayne McPhatter (Miranda) (NC), Anthony McPhatter (Sharon) (NC), precious nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents Curtis & Lillie Dockery, sisters Lillian Ratcliff and Carvina Perry, Brothers Curtis Dockery, Jr., Willie Dockery, and Detrius Dockery.

Homegoing Services will be celebrated at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Monday, April 22, 2024 at 11:00 am. Viewing will be in the funeral home on Monday from 10-11 am. Interment will take place at Hillside Memorial Park in Laurinburg, North Carolina.
