Racine – Murphy Donnell Hooks, age 67, passed away Ascension Columbia St. Mary's in Milwaukee on Thursday, May 14, 2026 after being flown Flight-For-Life from Racine as the result of a stroke.

Murphy was born in Racine, Wisconsin on July 1, 1958 to Eddie Lee Hooks and Mary Louise (nee: McLain) Hooks. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at early age as a member of Second Missionary Baptist Church. After graduating from Washington Park High School, Murphy served our country with the United States Navy. For some reason, he had a drive & passion for detailing automobiles…he was really good at it. He was also very proud of his family and friends, of whom he enjoyed spending time with.

Surviving are his mother, Mary Louise Hooks; daughter, MyKeesha Daylynn Hooks; son, Dante Jones; grandchildren, Tra'Mon Bryant, Taniea Bryant, Sicily Jackson, Yazmyne Hooks, Za'Amrine Gandy and Don'Trae Jones; great-grandson, Malichi Bryant; sisters, Robin (Patrick) Hunter and Nancy (Antonio) Fuentez; many special nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends – too numerous to mention all by name.

Murphy was preceded in death by his father, Eddie Lee Hooks; and brothers, Ronnie Lee Hooks and Edward Allen Hooks.

Homegoing services will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at 12:00 noon in Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home with Pastor Roger Carson officiating. Viewing will be in the funeral home on Tuesday from 11 am -12 noon with family hour beginning at 10 am. In memory of Murphy, offer a kind deed to someone in need.
