MOUNT PLEASANT – Nathan C. Swanson, 23, passed away at Froedtert Memorial Hospital on Thursday, August 22, 2013 as the result of a fall at work.

He was born in Racine on October 21, 1989, the son of Clyde and Laurie (nee: Christianson) Swanson.  He graduated from Washington Park High School in 2008 where he also lettered in track.  In addition, Nathan graduated from Gateway Technical College with a building maintenance degree.  He also was a member of the American Society of Power Engineers, Inc.

Nathan was passionate about sports. He had participated in martial arts with his family since the age of four.  He loved football, basketball and baseball. Nathan especially loved cheering on his Celtics and Red Sox.  He also was fond of his time on the golf course and in a boat, fishing. Nathan was a loving, giving person.  His most generous gift was his last, giving life to three people through the donation of his organs which he expressed his desire if ever in the situation to do so.  He touched many lives and will be missed dearly by all those who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, Clyde and Laurie Swanson of Mount Pleasant, Nathan is survived by his beloved dog and friend, Baron; his grandparents, Burton and Gayle Christianson of Kenosha, Ronald and Jean Horvath of Racine; his aunts, Rhonda (Gary) (nee: Christianson) Catrine of Clearwater, FL., Shelley Christianson of Libertyville, IL, Helen Swanson and Norma Woodward both of Racine; his cousins, Samuel and Ava Schlump of Libertyville, IL, Paul and Tommy Woodward of Racine; as well as extended family and many dear friends.  Nathan was preceded in death by his sister, Melissa Jean Swanson in 1988; his grandparents, Clyde and Faith Swanson, Sr. and his great grandparents, Eugene Mogenson, Marguerite Mogenson Gustafson and Howard and Helen Christianson.

Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Tuesday evening for a visitation from 5-8 p.m.  The celebration of Nathan's life will take place at Racine Bible Church (12505 Spring St.) on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at 11:00 a.m.  There will also be a visitation at church from 10-11 a.m.  His interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.
