RACINE – Mrs. Ophelia Oliver, 93, passed away at St. Luke’s Medical Center on Monday, September 12, 2016.

She was born in Bentonia, MS on November 26, 1922, the daughter of the late Tom and Minnie (nee: Rawles) Gordon.   On February 17, 1945 she married Willie Howard Oliver Sr. in Enterprise, MS.  He preceded her in death in 1987.

Mrs. Oliver was a devoted Christian woman.  She recently attended Christian Faith Fellowship Church under the leadership of Pastor Willie Scott.  Prior to that, she attended Second Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Daryn D. Crenshaw.  Mrs. Oliver served on the Mother’s Board of both churches.

She is survived by her children, Sherby Oliver of Racine, Janis Oliver of Dallas, Ronnie Oliver of Racine, Merilon Oliver of New Orleans, Vanessa (James) Harris of Houston, Bruce (GiGi) Oliver of Racine; 15 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren; as well as many dear nieces, nephews and extended family members.  She was preceded in death by her son, Willie Jr. and siblings, Thomas Jefferson – TJ, James Allen, Milred, Lenora, Edward- Son, Sarah Lou, Ruthie Mae, Lester, Lessie Mae, and Lewie.

Family and friends are invited to meet at Christian Faith Fellowship Church (3303 Nicholson Road in Franksville) on Saturday, September 17, 2016 for a visitation from 10-11 a.m.  A Homegoing celebration will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Willie Scott officiating.   A private interment will take place at Woods National Cemetery in Milwaukee.
