RACINE – Mrs. Pearl Mary (nee: Sebastian) Maynard, 75, passed away surrounded by the love of her family in St. Mary's Medical Center on Wednesday, February 17, 1999, due to a longtime respiratory illness.
A lifetime resident, she was born in Racine on August 26, 1923, to the late John Jacob and Susanna (nee: Sorensen) Sebastian. On August 4, 1945, she was united in marriage to Harold J. Maynard.
Pearl's number one priority was her family, which she held together with loving support, gentle guidance, and a few kind words. A home enthusiast, she enjoyed her duties of cleaning, cooking, sewing, gardening, and even reupholstering furniture, to just name a few. Pearl was a former member of St. Rita Catholic Church.
Surviving are her loving husband of nearly 54 years, Harold; sons, David (Lin) Maynard of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, Alan (Jodi) Maynard, Robert (Terri) Maynard, and Charles (Ruth) Maynard, all of Racine; grandchildren, Angela and Elliott Maynard and Kaitlin, Megan, and Allison Zurawski; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Cocking, Laura Hintz, Eleanor Sorenson, and Lorraine Maynard; and special friends, Lydia Van Hara and Patricia (Joe) Sheehan. Further surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Pearl was preceded in death by her sister, Ruby Hush; and brothers, Jacob, Louis, and Edward Sebastian.
Visitation for family and friends will begin at the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Friday, February 19, 1999, at 5 p.m. and conclude with a Prayer Vigil at 7:30 p.m. Private Funeral services and interment will be held at a later date. In memory of Pearl, memorials to the American Diabetes Association or the Racine Literacy Council have been suggested.
