Dallas, TX – Phoebe Gwen Souter-Sims, age 55, transitioned from this earthly home on December 12, 2022.
Phoebe was born on July 22, 1967 in Racine, Wisconsin to the late Hugh Wesley Souter and the late Gladys Lee (nee: Mayfield) Souter.
Phoebe was united in Holy Matrimony to Bobby Sims on May 28, 1989. They shared 33 happy years of marriage. Their union was blessed with two children.
Phoebe is a graduate of J.I. Case High School. She went on to Cosmetology/Beauty School at Gateway Technical College. She spent 16 years as a school bus driver with Durham School Services.
She enjoyed shopping, traveling, taking pictures, and spending time with her family. She was a great mother, daughter, and sister. She loved cooking, keeping her home spotless, sewing, and watching sports. Using her skills from beauty school, she enjoyed upkeeping her daughter's hair over the years. One of her favorite things was attending family gatherings, meeting with her elders, and learning about her family history.
To cherish her precious memories, Phoebe is survived by her husband, Bobby Sims of Dallas, TX; two children: son, Bobby Souter-Sims and daughter, Nakia Souter-Sims of Dallas, TX; and 6 siblings; five brothers, Douglas, Michael, Anthony, Patrick (Hope) Souter, all of Racine, WI, and Dana (Delilah) Souter of Dallas, TX, and one sister, Patricia Scaife of Racine, WI; one aunt, Shirley Ware of Ecru, MS; special cousins, Jesse Souter of Milwaukee, WI and Sonja (Larry) Dixon of Southaven, MS; best friend, Vanessa Oliver of Dallas, TX.
Phoebe was proceeded in death by her parents Hugh and Gladys Souter; sister, Kamila Bernice Souter; niece, Taliesha Souter; aunts, Callie Tatum, Gloris King, Bernice Souter, Geneva Morrison, Hermia Souter, Charlie Mae Waters, Florene Foster; uncles, James Mayfield, Archie Souter, Prentiss Tatum, Robert King, and James Ware.
Homegoing services will be celebrated in Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Graceland Cemetery. Viewing will be in the funeral home on Thursday from 10-11 am.
