~~    Phyllis A. Schenk, 69, passed away unexpectedly at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints on Monday, January 5, 2015. She was born in Washington D.C. on October 8, 1945, the daughter of the late Richard and Berdine (nee: Hanson) Van Curen. On April 2, 1966, she was united in marriage to Edward W. Schenk Jr. who preceded her in death on December 16, 2008. Mrs. Schenk had been employed by Western Publishing and later became a Health Unit Coordinator at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints, retiring in October of 2007. She was a longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church and enjoyed playing Bingo, completing crossword puzzles and listening to gospel music. Mrs. Schenk loved being with her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Surviving are her children, Steven (Kellie) Schenk, of Sturtevant, Edward Schenk, of New River, AZ, Jennie Schenk, of Sturtevant, and Heather (Erich) Angel, of Franklin; her grandson, Owen; sister, Susan (Ken) Johannesson, of Duluth, MN; her nieces, Natalie Haglund, and Amy Johannesson; as well as many other relatives and friends. Her life and funeral will be celebrated at Faith Lutheran Church, 8500 Durand Ave., Sturtevant, on Monday, January 12th, at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Jeffrey Mortensen officiating. Visitation will be in the church on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Private burial will take place in the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. The family has suggested memorials to Faith Lutheran Church.
