Obituary

Rae Miller (née Crayton) Robinson

July 25, 1940 – October 30, 2026

Racine, WI – Rae Miller (née Crayton) Robinson, 86, surrounded by the love, care, and devotion of her family, was called from Earth to Heaven on Friday, October 30, 2026, reuniting with the love of her life and her Heavenly Father. Rae spent her early years in New Albany, Mississippi, before later making Racine, Wisconsin, her home.

Rae was born on July 25, 1940, in New Albany, Mississippi, to the late PJ Crayton and Carlener Pratt-Crayton. She accepted Christ at a young age while attending Beaver Dam M.B. Church in New Albany, Mississippi, and later became a faithful member of Second Missionary Baptist Church in Racine, Wisconsin.

Rae was blessed with the opportunity to spend much of her children's childhood raising and caring for them at home. She found some of her greatest joy and passion in caring for her grandchildren, great-nephew, and several other children as a licensed in-home childcare provider.

Rae found purpose and happiness in caring for her family. She was looked upon as a second mother by many of her siblings, with whom she often spent hours on the phone, offering a listening ear, words of wisdom, and unconditional love. Her home was often the gathering place for family, where everyone was welcomed and could enjoy a delicious Southern meal lovingly prepared by Rae and her husband. Music was always a part of her home, often playing throughout the day, especially the soulful sounds of B.B. King.

Rae loved cooking for her family daily and took great pride in preparing an abundance of food for holidays, often staying up into the wee hours of the morning alongside her husband. Her love for cooking extended beyond her family to their pastor and first lady, for whom she prepared numerous meals (which felt like a Sunday feast) for both of the first lady’s pregnancies. Those thoughtful acts of love and generosity hold a special place in the Crenshaw family's hearts to this day.

Rae also had a passion for gardening and took great pride in planting large vegetable and flower gardens each year. She enjoyed sharing her knowledge and love of gardening with others, encouraging and helping them start their own gardens by offering tips, guidance, and a helping hand. Her home was always filled with beautiful plants that she lovingly cared for, and she delighted in sharing clippings with anyone who admired them.

When Rae wasn't at home, she could often be found at one of her daughters' homes, spending quality time with them and her grandchildren. Otherwise, she was likely out shopping with her daughters, sisters, or friends, enjoying herself and purchasing what she wanted, when she wanted it.

Rae was united in marriage to the love of her life, Henry Lee Robinson. Together, they raised their children and taught them many valuable lessons. Above all, they instilled the importance of loving family, standing together, and always being there for one another unconditionally. These lessons will forever remain in the hearts of their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, serving as a lasting part of their legacy.

Rae leaves to cherish her precious memories her son, Perez Harris; daughters, Racheal Harris and Yolanda Robinson; grandchildren, Jerome Jackson, Tony Martin Jr., Marquan Martin, Michael Brown Jr., Malik Brown, Raydia Brown, Nadia Olson, Zyria Robbins, Rolaan Hanks and Zariyah Hanks; and great-grandchildren, Antonio Martin, Vanessa Martin, Serenity Fleishmann, Malana Moye, Sapphire Fleishmann, Ashton Martin, Deonte Person III, Ohana Martin, and Zy’Anna Person.

She also leaves behind her son through marriage, Henry Robinson Jr., his children, notably Artricia Robinson-Chambliss, and grandchildren.

Rae's cherished siblings include Charlene Brown (Albert Nunn-Johnson), Margie (Lester) Wray, Paul (Patricia) Crayton, Terry Pratt, Penny (Boyd) Sanders and Khari Alimayu. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law, Evelyn White; brother-in-law, Nelson Robinson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.

Her extended family, whom she loved dearly and who loved her in return, includes her sons-in-love, Ryan Hanks and Marcus Hodges, along with all of her beloved bonus grandchildren.

Rae was preceded in death by her loving husband, Henry Lee Robinson; her parents, PJ Crayton and Carlener (née Pratt) Crayton; her mother and father-in-law, her grandparents, her son, Tony Harris; her daughters, Lisa Harris and Traci Harris; her siblings, Mary Person, Warrine Beard, Virginia Patterson, Peggy Gray, Barbra Crayton, David Pratt, Sarah Pratt, Randy Pratt, Carrie Knox and Francis (Tut) Knox; 2 sister-in-laws, 8 brother-in-laws, 3 aunts, notable her special aunt Earlean Foster, and three uncles.
