RACINE – Rakia T. Houston was born on August 31, 1975 to Carolyn Houston and William A. Smith in Racine, Wisconsin. Rakia received her formal education at Washington Park High School.

Rakia was employed by Denny's and Qdoba in Seattle, Washington until she was unable to do so. She was a loyal and faithful friend to the Racine, California, and Seattle community, well loved and respected by all who crossed her path. In her leisure time she loved watching movies with her grandsons, writing letters to incarcerated friends and family, spending time with her loving friends, and playing games on her phone.

Rakia departed this life on August 18, 2020. She leaves to cherish her memory: her children Donterrious Bell and Anai'ja Mackey; her parents Carolyn Houston and William (Patricia)Smith; grandchildren; Michael Mackey, Lashawn Mackey, and Sa'Nylah Bell; brothers, Jarriel Barry (Racine) Nicholas Ashford (Milwaukee) William Smith Jr (Milwaukee); sisters; Jazmine Wilson (Racine) Telicia Wonder, Nikka Huffman (Milwaukee), Sonya and Lashay Smith (Milwaukee); special cousins Rhonda Price, JaVonna Lue, Torrey Eggerson, Jimmy McWhorter, Tankia Thompson, Shemekia Curtis, Lionedra Foster, and Sophia Foster; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; especially her Midtown family who loved her dearly. Rakia was preceded in death by: grandmothers; Louis Houston and Martha Smith, brother; Derrick Ashford, 3 aunts, and 4 uncles.

Family and friends are invited to meet at the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory on Friday, August 28, 2020 for a visitation and viewing at 11:00 a.m. The celebration of her life and Homegoing service will follow at 12:00 p.m.
