Rano R. Wells, 89, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away in the Ridgewood Care Center on February 2, 2026. Rano was born in Racine, WI on August 2, 1936, the son of the late Henry and Alda (nee: Zamagni) Wells.

Rano graduated from St. Catherine High School, Class of '55. He lettered seven times during his athletic years there. He participated in football and basketball. He was best known for his abilities in track and field, setting records. He was inducted into the St. Catherine's Athletic Hall of Fame in 2001. On February 17, 1958, he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Suzanne J. Raguse. She preceded him in death on January 30, 2025. Rano served his country with the U.S. Army Reserves from 1957 until 1959.

Rano was a true outdoorsman, hunting moose, caribou, deer, antelope, elk, turkey, pheasants, rabbits, geese and ducks. His passion was raising and training German Shorthair Pointers and Beagles. He judged Field Trials and Hunt tests. Time spent with family and friends was very important to Rano. He loved playing Sheep's Head, shooting trap, skeet, and sporting clays, snowmobiling, RC boat racing, and water skiing with them. Rano was always ready to tell a funny story or joke.

Rano was involved in many clubs, including, Pheasants Forever, Wisconsin Sportsman Assoc. and the Winchester Gun Club. Rano also raised animals including dogs and birds on his hobby farm in Kenosha County. For over 40 years Rano and his brother Carl operated Wells Brothers Supermarket.

Surviving are his two children, Rano (Linda) Wells II, Tammy (Joe) Spodick; three grandchildren, Rano Wells III, Andy Spodick, Eric (Megan) Spodick; two great grandchildren, Isabel and Colton Spodick; and his brother, Carl Wells. In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Rano was preceded in death by his in-laws, Chester and Helen Raguse, and his sister-in-law, Vicki Wells.

The family would like to thank the staff at Ridgewood Care Center and Hospice Alliance tor the loving care given to Rano and his family.

Visitation will be in the the funeral home on Monday, February 9, 2026, from 3:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. Private entombment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy. 32.
