Racine- Raymond F. Fleury, 71, was born into Eternal Life at 12:25 pm on Christmas Day, December 25, 2007 from Hospice Alliance – Pleasant Prairie following a long illness. Ray was born in Rhinelander, WI on July 28, 1936, son of the late John and Edna (nee: Wyss) Fleury. On June 2nd, 1956 he was united in marriage to Muriel "Mert" Cook at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rhinelander. Ray has been a resident of Racine since 1959, working at American Motors and other places until he was hired at J.I. Case Co. He retired as a machinist from Case Co. on August 1, 1998, and is a member of the 20 year club. Ray was a devoted member of St. Lucy's Catholic Church. He was an avid Cubs and Packers fan, and he enjoyed fishing, tinkering with T.V.s, tending to his garden and fruit trees, and going to the family cottage in Rhinelander. Surviving are his wife Muriel "Mert" of over 51 years; children, Robert (Denise) Fleury of Erie PA; Susan Crowell and David (Wendy) Fleury, both of Racine, WI; precious granddaughters, Sarah Crowell and Billie Gilbert; grandsons, Christian and Nash Fleury; sister, Mary Ann Fleury; and brothers, John (Carol) Fleury and Richard Fleury of Rhinelander; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends, including Nick and Tom. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Fleury; nephew, Adam Fleury; and niece, Amy Savage. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 29, 2007 at 10 am in St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Ave., with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Friday from 4-7 pm and in the church on Saturday from 9-10 am. Ray's family would like to thank Dr. Puffer and the staff at Wheaton Franciscan Health Care Cancer unit, Dr. Hari, his staff, and all the nurses, doctors, and social workers at the BMT unit at Froedtert Hospital and everyone at Hospice Alliance in Pleasant Prairie for their compassionate and loving care.
