Raymond John Peterson, Sr., age 91, passed away peacefully at Brookside Care Center in Kenosha on Sunday, June 2, 2024.

Ray was born in Racine to John and Estella (nee: Crowell) Peterson on October 1, 1932. Ray attended Racine Unified School District and achieved his GED from Gateway in Racine. He went to faithfully serve our country with the United States Army from 1952 – 1954 and received the National Defense Service Medal. Ray remained with the Army Reserves until 1961. On September 27, 1952 Ray was united in marriage with JoAnn Walley. Ray was employed by SC Johnson for 32 years. Among his interests; Ray enjoyed singing, bowling and fishing; he and JoAnn loved to travel and spend time as "snow birds" camping in their fifth wheel; he was a member of Journey Church in Kenosha and a Royal Rangers leader for many years; he attended faithfully Friday Hero's Café meetings and Our Harmony Club.

Surviving are his children, Peggy Neau from Pleasant Prairie, Bruce (Roslyn) Peterson from Louisville, KY, Brenda Nielsen from Luxemburg, WI, Jeffrey (Jeanette) Peterson from Crossville, AL, and John (Donna) Peterson II from Trevor, WI; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Ray was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn; sons, Glen and Raymond, Jr; parents, John and Estella; siblings, Virginia, Russell, Evelyn and Harold; and special friend, Dolores Drake, who Ray met in Cardiac Rehab after open heart surgery.

Service Details

Services for Ray will be held in Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Monday, June 10, 2024 at 11:00AM. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Monday from 10:00am until the time of service. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park with military honors.
