Mount Pleasant- Raymond John Sorenson, 65, loving, patient, kind and caring husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 11, 2010. Raymond was born in Kenosha on June 23, 1945 to the late Norman and Margaret (nee: Pier) Sorenson. Raised on a farm, he graduated from Union Grove High School and went on to earn an Associate Degree in fluid power from Kenosha Technical Institute. On June 19, 1965, Raymond was united in marriage with his high school sweetheart and best friend, Bonnie Sue Rohner, at Christ Church-United Methodist. Ray had been employed by the Village of Mount Pleasant in the Highway Dept. for over 28 years. He was a member of Christ Church-United Methodist; a Racine County 4-H Leader for the Sturtevant 4-H Club for 30 years; member of the Belle City Communicators; and was a Mount Pleasant softball coach. Among his interests, Ray appreciated all aspects of nature and farming; and enjoyed model trains and hunting. Ray had a unique sense of humor and a zest for life. Above all, he loved and cherished being close to his family, especially having fun with his grandchildren. Surviving are his beloved wife of 45 years, Bonnie; children, Kari (Justin Long) Kryszewski, Randy (Cindy) Sorenson, Rayme (Shay) Sorenson, Ryan "Rob" (Sonja Mata) Sorenson and Jason (Leah) Love; grandchildren, Nathan Kryszewski; Rayme "R.J." Jr., Brett, Samantha and Eric Sorenson; sister, Karen (Robert) Anderson; beloved mother-in-law, Marjorie Rohner; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by his sister, Judy Peden; brothers, David and Robert Sorenson; and father-in-law, Henry Rohner.
Funeral services will be held in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Monday, August 16, 2010 at 11:00 am with Rev. Mark Swanson officiating. Interment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Sunday from 3-5 pm and on Monday from 10-11 am.
