Raymonde L. Moriarty

Jan 13, 1935 – Jan 6, 2025

Service Details

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.Ā  Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

Raymonde L. Moriarty, age 89, of Racine, passed away on January 6, 2025.

She was born in Sorel, Province of Quebec, Canada on January 13, 1935, a daughter of the late Raymond and Jeanne d’ Arc (nee: Lavoie) DesMarais.

Raymonde moved to Southern California at age 20 and held a wide array of jobs including as an administrator at several defense and aerospace contractors, as a cake decorator, as a real estate agent, and as an assistant to the late French mime Marcel Marceau. She retired in 2009 and relocated to Racine from California that year.

She enjoyed challenging crosswords, true crime dramas, rose gardens, and food festivals. She especially enjoyed sharing her love for the cuisine of her native Canada: tourtiere, tarte au sucre, and pea soup were her favorite dishes. She was an avid animal lover, caring for and providing a home for dozens of stray cats and dogs (and one desert tortoise) over the decades. She also loved games of all sorts and lived life like she played poker: betting big on every hand. Her giant laugh, wry sense of humor, and strongly held opinions on just about everything will be missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include her daughter, Joan Moriarty, her son-in-law, Christopher Mason, and her granddaughter, Madeleine Mason-Moriarty, all of Brooklyn, NY. The Mason family of Racine – and Rosemary Mason in particular – provided great comfort and companionship in her later years.

Testimonials

October 22, 2015

We would like to personally thank Brian for what a warm, compassionate funeral you arranged. You always put our thoughts first and answered and responded to my many phone calls about everything. The artistry of the belongings of our son was amazing. Everything was so beautiful. So many people complimented on how the arrangement was set up by you. We as a family will never forget what you did for us in our time of need. Thank you very much Brian.
