Rebecca Oliver

Jan 14, 1936 – Aug 26, 2025

Service Details

The Homegoing Service for Rebecca will be held at Greater Grace Temple Church, 522 N. Memorial Drive, Racine on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at 11:00AM with Pastor Jerry Cornett as officiant. Visitation will be at church on Tuesday from 10:00AM until the time of service. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery.

Our beloved mother, Rebecca Oliver, entered the Kingdom of God on August 26, 2025 at the age of 89.  She was born in Enterprise, Mississippi on January 14, 1936, to the union of Clarence and Ida (Nee: Cotton) Bennett.

She received her formal education in Enterprise, Mississippi and graduated from Gateway Technical College with her GED.  As an adult she continued her education and received certifications in Early Childcare at Gateway. After relocating to Racine, she worked at Model Laundry, Rain Fair, Western Publishing/Golden Books and Little Angels Daycare. On September 12, 1953, Rebecca was united in marriage to Roosevelt Oliver. She cherished her marriage vows not just in words, but in every action, every sacrifice, and every quiet moment of devotion.   No matter what life threw at them, she stood by Roosevelt’s side with God’s grace and strength. Their love carried them through 59 unforgettable years until the day her beloved Roosevelt was called home, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering commitment and deep, enduring love. Rebecca was a member of the Greater Grace Temple Church of God in Christ for over 60 years and faithfully attended until her health began to fail. It was here that she professed her belief in Christ and received The Baptism of the Holy Ghost and was a faithful servant of God.  During her time at Greater Grace Temple, she served on many auxiliaries. She was a Church Mother, President of the Usher Board, Sunday School Teacher, member of the Pastors Aid Club, worker at Little Angels Daycare, a cook at the Catch the Vision Outreach Program, and a member of the Adult Choir. Her love for children and her nurturing spirit also led her to open her home, where she lovingly ran an in-home daycare, caring for the children of family members as if they were her own. She was a woman of unwavering commitment in her faith, in her family and in everything she set her heart to do.  She lived with quiet strength and deep devotion, pouring love and purpose into every role she held. She loved planting and growing flowers, putting them on display for others to enjoy.

Rebecca leaves to cherish her children, Diane, Gregory, Michael (Oliver) all of Racine, WI, Vernard Oliver of Colorado, and Elaine Oliver of Virginia, special grandson Tyrus Oliver who she helped raise, special granddaughter Angela Williams who stepped in as her personal sounding board for medical issues and procedures, special niece Vanessa Boutwell who she took under her wings when her sister Mildred passed, and also 4 sisters-in-laws and a host of nieces and nephews. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren, Angie, Jarvis, Elvis, Vanika, Vanese, Donta, Jami, Tyrus, Cameron and Myron. – 15 great grandchildren, Shannon, Trey, Olivia, Jarvis Jr., Charlotte, Jalen, Brooklyn, Brielle, Eliijah, Kaleb, Devoni, Adora, Kaiden, Adryana and Kairo, 4 great great grandchildren, Adonis, Hazion, Elias and Azaio. Rebecca was preceded in death by her husband, Roosevelt; both parents, Ida (George) Cannon and Clarence (Emma) Bennett; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Artis and Houston Oliver, Sr.; brothers, Clarence and Harold Bennett; sister, Mildred Boutwell; brother in-law, James Boutwell; and grandson, Jarvis Williams.

She was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother and friend who will truly be missed.

Rebecca Oliver and her beloved grandson Jarvis Williams will be celebrated together in a joint homegoing service, a testament to their unbreakable bond in life and in spirit.

Diane, and family I give my condolences to you. I remember seeing Mother Oliver faithfully serving countless times as a doorkeeper in the house of the Lord, seemingly every time I went to Grace Temple. She was a woman of integrity, and grace, and gave good testimony that she was a child of God. I uplift you in prayer to Almighty God. She has earned and is resting in her eternal home.
