Richard "Dick" Hornyak, 68, passed away in Froedtert South- Kenosha, on Saturday, July 7, 2018, following complications of a brain aneurysm. He was surrounded by his loving family. Dick was born in Racine on May 22, 1950, the son of the late Andrew J. and Dorothy T. (nee: Maier) Hornyak.
On January 21, 1978, in Racine, he was united in marriage to Juanita Sue Mikus. Dick had been employed by Webster Electric and retired from Fischer Inc. after 32 years of service. He was an accomplished bowler, rolling multiple 300 games and several 800 series. Dick started bowling at his parents bowling alley, Spears, at the age of 8. He was also an avid golfer. Dick loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Juanita; their children, Levi (Amanda) Hornyak, of Burlington, WI, and Rose (Matthew) Roeschen, of Racine; two grandchildren, Lexi and Easton; brother, Andrew (JoAnn) Hornyak, of Mt. Pleasant; sister, Patricia (Wayne Loney) Audenby, of Palms Springs, CA; niece and nephews, Ryan (Jennifer) Hornyak, Eric (Sarah) Hornyak, Lance (Jen) Mikus, Suraya (Jesse Harris) Mikus, Jeff (Kelly) Greer, and Katie (Piet) van Praag; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dennis (Cheryl) Mikus, of Sarasota, FL, and Maria (Brad) Lee, of Racine. In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Rudolph and Olive Mikus.
His funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Sunday, July 15 th at 4:00 p.m., with Rev. Mark Doidge officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home, on Sunday, from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Private internment will take place in West Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family has suggested memorials to the Gary Sinise Foundation or your favorite charity.
