Richard S. Powell, 64, passed away unexpectedly in Neshkoro on Tuesday, January 13, 2015. He was born in Japan on June 2, 1950, the son of Marvin and Sachiko (nee: Otomo) Powell. Richard served our country honorably in the US Army. Among his many interests were music, learning about world religions, discussing politics, and eating mushroom Swiss burgers.

Richard is survived by his mother, Sachiko Gillis of Sturtevant; sister-in-law, Laurie Powell of Franksville; nephews, Scott Powell of Ft. Knox, Tennessee, Joel (Scott Galetto) Powell of Chicago, Christopher (Jonese) Powell of Genoa City; niece Michelle (Bradley) Bahler of S. Milwaukee; great-nephews, Hayden and Keaton Powell; as well as the extended members of the Gillis family, other relatives and friends here and in Japan. He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Powell; his brother, Ronald Powell; step-mother, Barbara Powell; and step-father, Richard Gillis.

The family would like to thank the staff at Our House in Neshkoro, WI where Richard has resided the last several years.

Committal services and military honors will be held in the chapel at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 26, 2015.
