Robert Earl Barry, age 70, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 13, 2017. He was born on September 24, 1946 in Etta, Mississippi to Tom Barry and Nola Sanders. Robert accepted Christ at an early age. On April 25, 1963, he was united in marriage to Barbara J. Williams in Memphis, Tennessee. To this union three children were born.
In 1966 the Barry's moved to Racine, Wisconsin and united with St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church Robert worked and retired from J.I. Case Company after 30 years of dedicated service as a Semi Truck Driver. He was a dedicated member of St. Paul Church where he has served a member of the security team and the trustee board. Robert was a Mason and served as the President of the Retiree Social Club.
Robert was a true outdoors man who enjoyed keeping his yard well-manicured. On any pleasant day he could be found working in the yard or cooking his famous barbecued ribs on the grill. He was a huge Harley Davidson Fan and took many road trips on his bike until his health began to fail. His number one passion was the love he had for his granddaughter, Alexis whom he affectionately nicknamed "Duke", they were roommates, best friends and most of all partners in crime.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Tom Barry and Nola Sanders; his loving wife of 48 years, Barbara J. Barry; siblings, Willie Ivy, Elizabeth Sharp and sister in law, Lennie Barry.
Robert leaves to cherish his precious memories his three children, Karlton E. (Cindy) Barry of Newport News, VA, Marlon J. (Tina) Barry of Racine, WI and Shronda T. (Steven C. Zaehler) Barry of Sturtevant, WI; his mother in law, Dora M. Cleveland, Racine, WI; his grandchildren, Keenan Barry, Dominique (Faith) Barry, Aaliya Munoz, Alexis "Duke" Murphy, Karlton "Winky" Barry Jr., his great-grandchild , Simarianna Barry; his godchild, Deon Eggerson; his siblings, David Berry of Kenosha WI, A.C. (Barbara) Barry of Franklin, WI, Mary (John) Bedford of Twinsburg, OH, Martha (Steve) Lott, Calvin (Charles) Hicks and Ann (Calvin) Wright all of California;; special friends, Archie and Shelia Rainer, George Nicks Sr. and Willie M. Townsend, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends too numerous to name. Robert's contagious smile will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of his life will be held on Friday, April 21, 2017 at 11:00am in St. Paul MBC, 1123 Center St. The Visitation will be at the church, on Friday from 10:00am until the time of service.
