Robert Charles
Becwar
Feb 27, 1935 — Jul 3, 2026
Robert Charles Becwar, lovingly known as Bob, passed away surrounded by the love of family and a lifetime of treasured memories. Born on February 27, 1935, in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, Bob was the son of Charles and Dorothy (Fritsche) Becwar and grew up on the family farm, where he learned the values of hard work, practicality, and the importance of keeping an eye on the weather.
On May 25, 1962, Bob married the love of his life, Lois Louise Gremore, at St. Gabriel's Church in Prairie du Chien. Together they built a life filled with family, laughter, and steadfast devotion, sharing more than six decades of marriage and countless adventures along the way.
After leaving the family farm, Bob began a 37-year career with JI Case, where Bob had a number of roles throughout his career. He also proudly served his country as a member of the Army National Guard for ten years.
Bob was happiest outdoors. Whether he was fishing, camping, tinkering under the hood of a car, or simply enjoying a warm day, he appreciated life's simple pleasures. He had a knack for fixing things, an appreciation for a job well done, and a collection of old farmer sayings ready for nearly every occasion. Family members can still hear him predicting the weather with confidence: "Rain before 7 done by 11," or "When the sun is orange, it'll be hot tomorrow."
Those who knew Bob will especially remember his favorite phrase: "What's the scoop?" It was his way of asking what came next, where the family was headed, or what adventure might be waiting around the corner. In many ways, it perfectly captured his curiosity, enthusiasm, and desire to stay connected with those he loved.
Of all his roles in life, Bob most cherished being a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He delighted in spending time with his grandchildren and was especially proud to welcome his great-granddaughters, whose arrivals brought him tremendous joy.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Lois Becwar; his children, Bruce (Julie) Becwar, Carol (David) O'Connor, and Shari (Ivan) Sandoval; his grandchildren, Alea Becwar, Shona Becwar, Garrett Becwar, Dylan O'Connor, Olivia O'Connor, Kayla (Rohan) Desbrow, and Patryck (Kenzie) Sandoval; his great-granddaughters, Maeve and Evie Sandoval; and his devoted caregivers, Kati and Isaiah and the Johnson family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Dorothy Becwar, and his siblings, Paul Becwar, Evelyn Becwar, and Dale Becwar.
A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 12, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at DeRango's Pizza King, 3114 Washington Avenue, Racine, Wisconsin 53405. In lieu of flowers, family and friends are encouraged to spend a day outdoors, share a favorite fishing story, or simply ask one another, "What's the scoop?"—just as Bob would have wanted.
Though Bob has now found the answers to life's biggest questions, those who loved him will continue to hear his familiar voice asking, "What's the scoop?" and smile as they remember a man who lived with humility, humor, and an unwavering love for family.
