Obituary

Keshena, WI – Robert James Chizek, 65, formerly of Racine, passed away at the Shawano Medical Center, under the compassionate care of Shawano Community Hospice, on Friday, May 7, 2010. Robert was born in Racine on December 22, 1944 to the late John L. and Helen K. (nee: Hudak) Chizek. He lived in Racine all of his life until retiring to his beautiful home on Legend Lake in Keshena. A 1963 graduate of Washington Park High School, Bob was employed by American Motors / Chrysler for over 21 years, retiring in 1992. On August 31, 1984, Bob was united in marriage with Rebecca Ann (nee: Stefferud) Chizek, who passed away after a brave battle with ALS on October 8, 1997. Catholic by faith, Bob was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Keshena. He was also a very proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous for over 45 years. He enjoyed fishing, gambling and, as an extreme people person, loved to socialize with family and friends. Surviving are his son, Robert J. (Lisa) Williams of Kenosha (and their children, Deanna, Ashley, Brittany and Justin Williams; and grandchildren, Caden and Nolen); daughters, Susan (David) Mitchell of San Pietro, Italy (and their children, Kyle and Tyler Mitchell) and Brandy Lynn Landvatter-Adensam of Racine (and her son, Ryan Landvatter) ; brothers, John "Chick" (Gloria) Chizek and Michael "Mick" Chizek, both of Racine; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, Bob was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Pat Chizek; and by Rebecca's parents, Eugene and Donna Paar. A service celebrating Bob's life will be held in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Thursday, May 13, 2010 at 6:00 pm. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Thursday from 4-6 pm. In accordance with Bob's wishes, cremation will follow the service and private interment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. A special note of thanks to John "Chick", Gloria, and Michael "Mick" Chizek for the tremendous amount love and support given to Bob in his time of need. The constant devotion to your brother will always be remembered.
