Robert Lee Oliver, age 80, transitioned on Monday, November 22, 2021.  He was Born on August 10, 1941 in Enterprise, Mississippi the youngest of 12 children that included 9 sons and 3 daughters of the late Houston, Sr. and Artis Oliver (nee: Williams).   Robert left Mississippi in 1956 and relocated to Racine, Wisconsin looking for a more prosperous life.   Robert received his formal education in the Racine School system.

Robert served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1966; he was a paratrooper and proud member of the 82 ^nd Airborne Infantry Division at Fort Bragg, NC, one of the Army's most elite divisions. Robert earned a National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and a Parachutist Badge.

In 1990, Robert retired from J.I. Case Company at the age of 49.  After his retirement from J.I. Case Company, Robert enjoyed supporting his brothers in their numerous business ventures, including working as a bartender at Jimmy's Mr. Kool's in Racine, Wisconsin.  He had a passion for winning horses, electronics, jazz music and spending time with his grandsons. Robert was a man of very few words, with a strong presence, and often called the quiet "baby" brother of the Oliver family.

Robert leaves to cherish precious memories his daughter, Maria (Kevin) Hughes of Louisville, Kentucky: two grandsons, Mark Hughes of London, England and Brandon Hughes of Louisville, Kentucky; sister, Grace McMillian of Racine, Wisconsin; sisters-in-law, Rebecca Oliver, Shirley Oliver, and Marie Oliver of Racine, Wisconsin, Garnet Oliver of Oakland, California, and Corliss Oliver of Gulfport, Mississippi.  He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, special nieces and a great nephew, Pat McMillian, Shirley McMillian, and Othion Everson of Racine that helped care for Robert throughout his later years.  In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by two sisters, Frosean Oliver, Anna Mae Newman, and eight brothers, Walter, Earnest, Johnnie, Curtis, Houston Jr, Roosevelt, James (Jimmy Dale), and Joseph (Joe Frank).

Service Details

His Homegoing Service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, December 4 ^th , at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Ricky Jones officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home that Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in Graceland Cemetery.
