Robert Ralph Blasi, affectionately known as “Bobby” to his family and “Bob” to his friends, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on June 14, 1939, he was the cherished son of Margaret Blasi (Niashee) and Ralph Blasi. Robert grew up in Kenosha, Wisconsin, alongside three brothers and two sisters.

Robert’s early education began at St. Mary’s Parochial School in Kenosha, where he laid the foundation for a lifelong commitment to learning and hard work. He later attended Kenosha Technical Institute, equipping himself with the skills that would define his remarkable career. Over the years, Robert worked as a body man for Roosevelt Autobody, Martins Autobody, and Kenosha Frame & Axle. He also painted airplanes at Kenosha Airport.

For four decades, Robert dedicated himself to AMC and Chrysler, holding various positions including Special Checker, Forklift Driver, Chief Union Steward and Board Member. His steadfast dedication to his work and his colleagues earned him respect and admiration within the workplace. As an active member of UAW Local 72, the Teamsters Union, and the AFL-CIO, Robert was deeply committed to advocating for workers’ rights and fostering solidarity among his peers.

Known for his sharp humor and wit—especially his signature sarcasm—Bob brought laughter to those around him. He had a deep passion for craftsmanship and classic vehicles, proudly owning an impressive collection of cars over the years. Among them, his favorite was his first car, a Cruiser Maroon 1947 Plymouth Special Deluxe. He also enjoyed drag racing, boating & water skiing, and cheering on the Green Bay Packers.

Bob was the proud father of a large family that included four daughters and two sons. His legacy lives on through them and through the countless memories shared by those who knew him. He was also blessed with 15 grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy.

Throughout his life, Robert called many places home. After living in Kenosha until 1999, he moved to Tucson, Arizona; Arlington, Kentucky; and eventually returned to Kenosha in 2022.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; a sister; and his loyal canine companion Sammie. He is survived by his six children: Robert Blasi (Jennifer), JoAnn Blasi, Jackie Blasi Scott, Jill Blasi, Jeanna Smith-Blasi, Christopher Smith, a sister Jeanne Grogan (Glynn) and a brother Charles Funk (Kathleen).

May Robert’s memory bring comfort to all who were touched by his presence. His humor, craftsmanship, and unwavering dedication will be fondly remembered by those whose lives he enriched.

Testimonials

May 24, 2018

I can’t express my gratitude enough to Mike and the Draeger-Langendorf staff for such great service provided to us, as we made arrangements to lay our brother to rest. You all went above and beyond to make sure we understood every detail there was to know, from the greatest to the smallest. When we walked out of your office, we walked out with peace, knowing that our brother was in good hands. Thank you Mike for adding that special touch to my brother’s service, that’s the kind of stuff that separates you all from the rest. Once again Thank you so much.
