RACINE – Mr. Robert Stewart, 91, passed away at Ridgewood Care Center, surrounded by family, on Thursday, January 28, 2021.

He was born in Marion, IL on December 24, 1929, the son of the late Carl R. and Bessie (nee Brown) Stewart Sr.   He served his nation with the US Army from 1951 – 1953.  After his honorable discharge from the Army he moved to Racine and married the love of his life, Floydie M. Robert retired from SC Johnson after 24 years of service.  After retirement he worked as a maintenance worker for Racine Unified. Robert was a longtime member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church.  He was an avid golfer, loved shooting pool and watching NFL football.  However, Robert was happiest when he was in the company of his family.

He is survived by his sons, Philip L. Stewart of Oak Creek, David (Shirley) Stewart and Jeffery (Yvette) Stewart both of Racine; many dear grandchildren and great grandchildren; his sister, Dorothy Dixon of Springfield, IL; his sister-in-law Mattie Stewart; Detroit, MI; special sister-in-law, Barbara Mayfield; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Robert was also preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Harold, Ralph (Rose), Clarence, Marcus, Joseph and Carl Stewart Jr. (Nellie Pearl), James O. Clark, Doretta (Henry) Small and Mildred Fitch.

Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory on Monday, February 8, 2021 for a visitation and viewing from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.  Due to Covid19, a private, invite only, family service will take place.   For those wishing to watch via livestream, you may click on the following link at 11:00 a.m. https://youtu.be/SGZm_dUJHXM.  His interment will take place in Graceland Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials have been suggested to St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church Elevator Fund.

The Stewart family wishes to acknowledge with sincerity, the many messages of comfort, prayers, and other acts of kindness. Deep gratitude and thanks to Dr. Choi and his nurse, Debbie from Ascension, Vickie Doss and the staff at Ridgewood Care Center as well as the staff at Home Harbor Assisted Living Facility, for the loving and professional care Robert received.

So saddened to hear of Bob’s passing. Worked with Bob for several years and have many fond and happy memories from that time. We were golf partners and Bob was a beginner but rapidly improved and in a short time scored lower than I could. He was a good athlete. I remember during a lunch break, a group at work decided to have foot races and Bob won beating guys 10 and 15 years younger. I’m thankful for having the opportunity to meet and to get to know him.
