Obituary

Racine- Robin Lynn (nee: Gavin) Holbus, 41, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 as the result of severe asthma attack.

Robin was born in Racine on April 10, 1970. A 1988 graduate of St. Catherine's High School, she went to earn a degree in nursing from Gateway Technical College.

On August 12, 1989 in St. Sebastian Catholic Church, she was united in marriage with the love of her life, Thomas John Holbus. Passionate about caring for others, Robin and Tom founded Serenity Care, LLC – a group home that they owned and operated for the past several years.

With a profound Christian faith, Robin lived her religion every day by caring for the less fortunate and enhancing the lives of those in need. If a friend or stranger needed something, Robin bought it without caring about how much effort it took or the cost. Most importantly, she never sought to be recognized for her countless acts of kindness. Years ago, she enjoyed coaching her daughter's soccer and basketball teams. More recently, she was a thrill seeker who loved ATV-ing with her family. As an automobile enthusiast, Robin had a passion for classic cars and was very proud of her convertible Mustang. Above all, Robin loved and cherished being in the surroundings of her entire family.

Surviving are her loving husband of 22 years, Thomas; their treasured daughter, Melanie (Matthew) Urban; beloved parents, Carol and Terry Gavin, Sr; brother, Terry (Jennie) Gavin, Jr.; grandparents, Fred and Betty Kuiper; and Theresa Hoekstra; Tom's parents, Carol and John Holbus; sisters-in-law, Jane (Jeffrey) Lui and Susan (Steven) Torosian; aunts, Margie (Dennis) King and Vicky (Steven) Brown; uncles, Edward (Irene) Kuiper and Ted (Amanda) Kuiper; nieces and nephews, Conner, India, Paxton, DiaLove and Emerson Gavin; Jessica and Joshua Lui; Sara and Sophia Torosian; many other dear relatives and friends too numerous to mention by name. Robin was preceded in death by her grandfather, Benjamin Hoekstra.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at 10 am in St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring St., with Rev. Terry Huebner officiating. Interment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Friday from 5-8 pm and in the church on Saturday from 9-10 am. In memory of Robin, memorials to the American Lung Association has been suggested.
