Roger Wesley Blair

Aug 1, 1944 – Mar 10, 2025

Service Details

A funeral service to honor the life of Roger Wesley Blair will be held on Sunday, March 16, 2025, 3:00pm, at Grace Church, 3626 Green Bay Road, with a visitation starting at 1:00pm, where family and friends will gather to share stories, reminisce, and celebrate the man who touched so many lives with his kindness and warmth. In keeping with his wishes, his earthly remains will be cremated, allowing his spirit to soar free, just as he did throughout his life.

It is with both heavy hearts and fond memories that we announce the passing of Roger Wesley Blair, a cherished husband, devoted father, and lifelong farmer, who left us peacefully on March 10, 2025, at the age of 80. Born in the vibrant community of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on August 1, 1944, Roger’s journey through life was marked by hard work, dedication, and a profound love for his family and community.

On June 6, 1964, Roger united in marriage with his beloved wife, Shirley Myers, in a ceremony full of faith and love at the College Church of the Nazarene in Bourbonnais, Illinois. Their bond flourished over the decades, creating a tapestry of shared memories, laughter, and unwavering support. Together, they cultivated a life rich in love and joy in Union Grove, Wisconsin, where Roger dedicated himself to farming-an endeavor he pursued with passion and pride throughout his life.

Roger graduated from Washington Senior High School in 1962, and his connection to the land and the agricultural community shaped his life’s work. He was a dairy farmer in Iowa until 1971. He moved his family to southern Wisconsin and started his career in the sod and vegetable industry. Roger retired as a farmer with Jasperson Sod Farm. He also found joy in classic cars, becoming an esteemed member of the Burlington Car Club, where he shared his enthusiasm for vintage automobiles with fellow aficionados.

A devoted member of Grace Church, Roger’s spirit of service extended beyond his immediate family. He previously shared his insights and dedication as a member of the North Cape School Board, leaving a lasting impact on the community he loved.

His legacy is woven into the lives of all who knew him, reminding us to celebrate the simple pleasures of life, the beauty of nature, and the importance of community. Roger leaves behind his beloved wife, Shirley, whose heart he cherished every day; children, Gregory (Susan) Blair, Kelly (Bob) Sprague; daughter-in-law, Dawn Ambach; grandchildren, Madeline Blair, Caitlin Grosskopf, Thomas Grosskopf, Zachary (Alyssa) Sprague, Allison Sprague, Nicholas (Morgan) Blair, Abigail Blair; great-grandchild, Ryder Blair; brother, Don Blair; other relatives and dear friends too numerous to mention.

Roger is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Emma (nee: Potter) Blair; and sons, Jeffrey Blair, and Kip Blair.

As we say goodbye, let us carry forward the lessons Roger taught us-a commitment to hard work, a appreciation for the beauty around us, and above all, the power of love. We celebrate the legacy of Roger Blair and hold him close in our hearts as we cherish the memories of a life well-lived.
