Rosa Guzman

Aug 30, 1925 – Oct 4, 2014

RACINE – Mrs. Rosa Guzman, 89, passed away at WFH- All Saints on Saturday, October 4, 2014.

She was born in Eagle Pass, TX on August 30, 1925.  On February 10, 1945, she married Juan Guzman.  He preceded her in death on August 5, 1996.

   Mrs. Guzman was a beautiful person, loving wife, mother and grandmother that devoted her life to helping and being a caregiver for others.  She volunteered for many years with the lunch program and as playground supervisor for St. Joseph Catholic School.  She was a long time volunteer with the Por La Gente Association making Sunday morning menudo during their annual softball tournament. A spiritual woman, Mrs. Guzman was a longtime member of both St. Patrick and St. Joseph Catholic Churches.    In addition, she was passionate about her garden flowers and cooking for her family and making sure the visiting birds in her yard were fed.

   She is survived by her children, Juan “Julio” Guzman, Mario (Karen) Guzman, Diane (Stephen) Malacara all of Racine, Herman (JoAnn) Guzman, Eddie (Alice) Guzman both of Milwaukee, Robert (Mary) Guzman of Appleton, Raquel (Ricardo) Palacios of Racine; her son-in-law, Juan Cervantes of Racine; her stepdaugher Maria Antonia Hopkins of Pharr, Texas; many dear grandchildren and great grandchildren; her brother, Luis Miguel “Mike” Marquez of Racine; as well as numerous half brothers and sisters; nieces, nephews and dear friends.  In addition to her husband, Mrs. Guzman was preceded in death by her mother, Maria (nee: Betancourt) Gonzalez; her daughters, Marcela Marquez, Sylvia Cervantes and her sister, Lidia Gonzales.

   Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Wednesday evening for a visitation from 6-8 p.m.  The celebration of her memorial Mass will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at 11:00 a.m.   There will also be a time to meet with her family at the church from 10-11 a.m.
