Sally L. Anderson, age 89, passed away peacefully at St. Monica’s in Racine on Friday, September 4, 2026. Sally was born in Eau Claire, WI on December 15, 1936, to the late Oswald and Florence (Challinor) Christensen. She was united in marriage to Jerome B. Anderson at Grange Avenue Methodist Church in June of 1958 until he preceded her in death in June of 2016.

She graduated from Washington Park High School in 1954.

Sally was an accomplished pianist and organist. She won many piano competitions while she was still in school. She first became the organist for Grange Avenue Methodist church and then Christ Church United Methodist where she was organist for over 50 years.

Sally was a talented quilter. She was a member of the Lighthouse Quilters and many of her quilts were top prize winners at state and local fairs as well as numerous quilt competitions throughout Wisconsin and the country. One of her quilts was published on the cover of a national quilting magazine. Mayor James Smith proclaimed Saturday March 6, 1999, as Sally Anderson Day in the City of Racine in honor and recognition of her talents and creativity and contributions she made in the Quilting Industry. She also made many quilts for her children and grandchildren always insisting that they be used, not packed away for safe keeping.

Sally loved to bake and was well known for her delicious Christmas cookies. She also loved to bake with her grandsons whenever they came to visit. Sally was an avid baseball fan her entire life. Her love of baseball began with the Racine Belles when she was a young girl attending the games with her father. She loved watching the Milwaukee Brewers and never missed a game. Sally was also a big Green Bay Packers fan. Above all Sally was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be remembered for her gentle kindness, sweet nature, patience and beautiful smile.

Surviving are her children, Susan Anderson and Robert (Karin Schestokat) Anderson; grandchildren, Richard (Jacquelyn) Beere, Kevin (Vanessa) Beere and David Beere; great-grandchildren, Frank and Michael; and other relatives and friends.

Along with her parents and husband, Sally was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Susan (Bruno) Ziccarelli and brother-in-law, Ronald Anderson.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. A service will commence at 11:00 a.m. Private interment at Graceland Cemetery. Memorials can be made in Sally’s name to St Monica’s Memory Care or a charity of one’s choice.
