Sandra Jean
Moskopf
Aug 10, 1945 — Jun 4, 2011
Sandra Jean Moskopf, 65, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loved ones on June 4, 2011.
Sandy was born August 10, 1945, in Kenosha, WI. She was the daughter of Herbert and Gretchen (nee: Massie) Naegeli. She is survived by her loving husband, Martin Moskopf, of 41 years. Also surviving are their sons, Matthew Moskopf of Kenosha, Michael Moskopf and fiancé Jodie Hecht of Waukesha, and Jon and Jennifer (nee: Rowntree) Moskopf of Pleasant Prairie. She is also survived by her brothers, sisters, cousins, nieces and nephews. Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Gretchen.
Sandy grew up on the family farm and was very close with her siblings – Bryan Naegeli (Cynthia), Roger Naegeli (Kris), and Sharon Bucher. While working on the farm, she developed a love of animals and a strong work ethic. At a young age, she decided that she wanted to become a teacher. She accomplished this dream by graduating from Carthage College and then later getting her Master's degree from Aurora University.
Sandy taught for Kenosha Unified for over 26 years. Over this time, she touched thousands of children's lives, mentored many student teachers and was blessed with dear friendships. This past year, she was nominated for Kenosha Unified's "Teacher of the Year." She loved teaching and believed that's why God put her on this earth. She taught until last month, when her illness no longer allowed her to continue.
When Sandy was not teaching, she enjoyed spending time with her family. Sandy and Marty always made it a priority to be thoroughly involved in their children's lives and activities. She also enjoyed the outdoors – whether it was gardening in the backyard, swimming in the pool or traveling to warm destinations. Sandy always had a smile on her face and an uplifting, positive attitude towards all.
Sandy was a lifelong member, baptized and later confirmed, at Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church where the funeral services will be held, 5038 – 19th Ave., in Kenosha, on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. David Rockhoff officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 7 th from 5-8 p.m. and in the church on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the "Tuition Assistance Funds" of Friedens Lutheran School have been suggested.
