Obituary

Racine – Sara Elaine Dresen, 13, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 9, 2015.  She was born in Racine on April 14, 2002, daughter of Scott and Lisa (nee: Hansen) Dresen.

Sara was about to enter the eighth grade at St. Catherine's Middle School.  She played softball for the City of Racine Dodgers and then for the Sturtevant Starz where she discovered her natural ability to play the catcher position.  She was even selected for the 2015 All Star Team.  Sara also loved to dance since she was a very little girl.  She studied dance at the Racine Studio of Performing Arts.  Her dance experience launched her into becoming a cheerleader which she also enjoyed very much.  Her sister Emma was her cheer coach last year.  Sara was a lover of music.  She spent the last two years learning to play the acoustic and electric guitar.  Sara's love of music and animals lead her to work part-time at Copy Cat Music, Aquarium, and Pet Supply here in Racine.  Above all, Sara treasured her family, especially the bond she had with her sister, Emma.  Sara and Emma would have sleep overs in each other's room and talk about just everything.  Sara will be dearly missed by all who loved her and knew her.

Sara leaves to cherish her memory, her parents, Scott (Darcie Glonek) Dresen, Lisa Dresen; sister, Emma Dresen; grandparents, Doug "Old Guy" (Sharon) Dresen, Lynn (Pat) Hansen; uncle, Craig Hansen; cousin, Megan Hansen; God-parents and uncle, Mike (Connie) Peffers; uncle, Rick (Heather) Peffers and the entire Peffer family in Florida; Darcie's children, Kristen Glonek, Dylan Glonek; extended families, the Cacciotti Famly and Dr. John Fisher, the Nielsen family; her life-time companion, Mr. Bear; other relatives and dear friends too numerous to mention.

Sara is preceded in death by her grandmother, Phyllis Dresen.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2015, 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm, at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home, 4600 County Line Road.  Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Monday, August 17, 2015, 10:00 am until 11:00 am.  A celebration of Sara's life will take place 11:00 am.  Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.  The family has suggested memorials to the family for a scholarship fund for Emma or to St. Catherine's High School.

The Dresen family would like to say "Thank You" to all the first responders and concerned citizens that came to Sara's aid.  Your dedication will not be forgotten.  Also, the Dresen family would like to thank their extended family and friends for the outpouring of support they have received during this difficult time.
