RACINE – Mrs. Senia Wheeler, 96, passed away at Grande Prairie Health and Rehab Center in Pleasant Prairie on Thursday, August 24, 2017.
She was born in Gainesville, AL on June 19, 1921, the daughter of the late Zack and Ophelia (nee: Lee) McIntyre. She married Joe Nathan Wheeler. He preceded her in death on May 16, 1972.
A devoted Christian, Mrs. Wheeler started attending Greater Mount Eagle Baptist Church in 1960 and remained an active member until her passing. She loved reading her Bible, playing softball and bowling in her earlier years, and being in the company of her family.
Mrs. Wheeler is survived by her sons and daughters, Andrew (Sharyn) McIntyre of Lansing, MI, Rosalind Hayslett of Racine, Curtis McIntyre, Marilyn Wheeler, Betty Wheeler, Cheryl Wheeler-Carter all of Racine; her daughters-in-law, Patricia McIntyre, Malorie Sanders; 17 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; her sister, Mittie L. Keys of Lansing, MI; her special sister-in-law, Anna Marie Nickens of Bryan, MS; her God grandson and daughter, Deacon Michael and Frances Randolph; her adopted children, Mary and Moses Daniel, Rose Phyfer, Clement Knight and Mary Sky Palmer; as well as a host nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Wheeler was preceded in death by her son, Tommie E. McIntyre and her brothers and sisters, David, Zack, Jr., Matthew and LeRoy McIntyre, Lillie Holmes, and Rebecca Reynolds.
Family and friends are invited to meet at Greater Mount Eagle Baptist Church (929 State Street) on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. for the celebration of Senia's Homegoing with Rev. Keith Evans officiating. There will be a time to meet with her family before the service from 10-11 a.m.
