Obituary

Sharon Yvonne (Gray) Phifer, 67, of Racine, Wisconsin, affectionately known as "Sharon Bear" passed away on June 11, 2026. Born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1958, in Racine, WI.  Sharon was a gift to her family from the very start, and she spent her entire life proving just how true that was.

Sharon was the daughter of the late Lewis and Geneva Gray. She grew up in Racine, where she graduated from Gateway Technical College. It was during that chapter of her life that she met the love of her life, Charles Phifer. The two married and built a beautiful partnership that lasted 38 years.

Sharon worked in various factories over the years, but it wasn't until she found her way into caregiving that she truly discovered her calling. She worked at several group homes, pouring her heart into helping others until her retirement. That desire to care for people wasn't just a job for Sharon; it was who she was at her core.

Anyone who knew Sharon knew that laugh. It was bigger than life itself, filling every room she walked into. She had a way of making you feel loved and seen, even when she was "telling you like it is" in that stern but loving way only she could pull off. When her mother passed, Sharon stepped naturally into the role of family matriarch, a title she wore with pride. She loved nothing more than putting together family gatherings, bringing everyone to the table and keeping the bonds between them strong.

Sharon had a real eye for the finer things on wheels. She loved collectible cars, with a particular fondness for Cadillacs, Lincolns, and Oldsmobile. She also enjoyed thrifting, tending to her beloved plants, and spending time at home with her lifetime companion, her pet Solo.

Sharon is survived by her loving husband, Charles Phifer; her sons, Krisjan Phifer, Alandre Johnson, and Javonte Johnson. Grandchildren: Kobe and Krisjan Phifer, Star and Alandre Jr. Her brothers: Gary Days, Robert Days, and Klem Knight; her sisters, Samone (Keith) Gray Westfield and Gloria (Alvis) Harrell; her nieces: Cornetta Stacy, Natasha (Artis) Carodine, Ericka (Harold) Walker, and Eurydice Harrell; her nephews: Jeno (Tabatha) Stacy Sr., Diaz Stacy Sr., Isaac Stacy, Tre (Staci) Monroe, and Bobby Barkley; along with a host of  nieces and nephews: Artis Carodine Jr, Artasia Carodine, Shanya Stewart, Deandre Monroe, Kyrihna Patterson, Aubriahna Patterson, Emeree Monroe, Lucas Walker, Ianna Walker, Linaiyah Walker, Malik Jackson, Jeno Stacy Jr, Amarion Stacy, Zari Stacy, Diaz Stacy Jr, D'asia Stacy, Ivyana Stacy, India Stacy, Amilliano Stacy, Yasani Stacy, Amir Stacy, Nylah Stacy, Tyler Monroe, Addyson Monroe, Maddox Monroe, Symone Barkley, Ruby Barkley, Bobby Barkley Jr and Amarion Stacy. Jr.

Special friends and family include: Kathy Gray, Goldie Scott, Mavis Macklen, Denise Mack, Leonnia Fields, Judy, Bill, Jerome and Leanne (neighbors) and Cindy whom she worked with as well as James Green and Kayvi. Lastly, Sharon had a special relationship with Sandy and Carolyn Gray, who were like sisters to her.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Geneva Gray; her father, Lewis Gray; her twin sister, Karen Gray; her grandmothers: Lula Neil & Margaret Gray; and her grandfather, Lewis Gray Sr. As well as, Uncles: Robert Gray, Clarence Gray, Melvin Gray and Willie B. Folsom and Aunts: Teresa Gray, Inez Tillman, Gracie Days, Irene Folsom and Elizabeth Brice.

Sharon loved her family and friends with all of her being. She will be deeply missed. Now, we share her with our loved ones who preceded her in death. Until we see you again, Sharon.
