Obituary

RACINE – Sherrod S. McClain, 57, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 6, 2026.

He was born in Racine on December 19, 1968, the son of Sylvester and Shirley (Bee Wicks) McClain, Jr. Sherrod graduated from Horlick High School in 1987.

He worked as a professional truckdriver over the years, forced into retiring after an injury to his leg. Sherrod loved to cook and was known for making the best French fries. He also enjoyed watching westerns, and the company of his friends to talk and laugh about life journeys. He loved being a grandfather to Mila Thea McClain. He was well known for having a very distinct raspy voice that stood out from other's that would easily identify him in a crowded room.

Sherrod is survived by his mother, Shirley McClain; his daughter and sons, Karissa (Agustin) Lara, Theodore McClain and Sherrod McClain, Jr.; his granddaughter, Mila McClain; his sister, Sheila (Larry Hull) McClain-Hull; his brother, Maurice (Yemi) McClain; his dear friends, Linda Moser and Tony Arebalo; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and host of relatives.

Sherrod was preceded in death by his father, Sylvester McClain, Jr. and his sister, Michelle Freeman.

Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory on Sunday, January 18, 2025, for a memorial service and celebration of Sherrod's life and Homegoing at 3:00 pm.
