Sherry Marie Chones was born on September 2, 1952, in Racine, WI, to the late J.W. and Mamie Sue (nee: Cannon) Chones.  She was a graduate of William Horlick H.S. in 1970. She then attended Accredited America Beauty School in1970, to become a licensed beautician. Sherry's first job as a beautician was at Pauline's. During that time she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was united with Little Macedonia COGIC, under the discipleship of the founding pastor, the late Elder Walter B. Ingram, then the late Elder James Erby and currently under Elder Calvin W. Jackson. She enjoyed singing in the choir with her sisters and she was the founding member of the church "cookie exchange".  She loved baking cookie and preparing snacks for everyone. Sherry enjoyed traveling to Hair Shows, until her health failed her in 1978. She was very family orientated and although she birthed no children of her own, Sherry loved having her nieces and nephews around, babysitting, watching basketball and shopping. Sherry, at age 61, left this life to receive her eternal reward on Wednesday, April 9, 2014.  Sherry leaves to cherish her memories, sisters Patricia (Curtis) Martin of Racine, WI and Sylvia Hargrove of Las Vegas, NV; brothers, James (Elores) Chones of Cleveland, OH and Marvin (Yvonne) Chones of Chicago, IL; two aunts Chattie (Charles) Johnson and Jeannie Keys and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, Sherry also leaves her Special friends, Carol Bostick, Debra Malone and Hattie Courtney. She was preceded in death by both of her parents, her paternal and maternal grandparents and her beautiful sister Jacqueline (nee: Chones) Woods.  Sherry's loving smile and tender heart will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

A celebration of Sherry's life will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2014, 11:00 am, at Greater Grace Temple COGIC, 522 N. Memorial Dr.  Visitation will be held at the church from 9am until the time of service.  Interment will follow services at Graceland Cemetery.
