On June 2,1953, Shirley, the third of eleven children, was born to the union of the late Ruben and Lula Mae Hodges in Tchula, Mississippi.

Shirley received her education in the Mississippi school system where she graduated from Eastside High School in Cleveland, MS.  In 1973, she moved to Kenosha, WI where she continued to live until she transitioned.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Ruben and Lula Mae Hodges; a son, Fredrick Gipson Jr.; and, a sister Ruth Hodges.

Shirley leaves to cherish her memories:  Children:  Alonzo (Courtney) and Alphonso (Carrie) Hodges; Sisters/Brothers: Mary Foster of Kenosha, WI; Johnnie Mae (Leroy) Cotton, Yvonne (JD) Herron, Isah (Canelda) Hodges, Mary Linda (Lee Ivory) Dukes, Annie Bowen, and Laquicia Hodges all of Cleveland, MS; Darrin Hodges of Fayetteville, NC; and Fredrick Hodges of Hattiesburg, MS; 5 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, along with a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

The homegoing celebration will be held at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home, 4600 County Line Road, Mount Pleasant, WI  53403 on October 2,2021 at 11:00am. The viewing of the body will be at 10am.
