Service Details

A visitation for Shirley will be held in Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 from 5:00PM – 7:00PM. Her Homegoing Service and interment will be held in Magee, MS on Saturday, March 2, 2024.

Celebration of Life – Shirley Goodwin

Shirley Goodwin (nee Floyd), a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and cousin, passed away at the age of 75 on February 19, 2024, in Racine, WI.

Born on November 2, 1948, in Magee, MS, Shirley Goodwin was the daughter of late CW and Savannah Jane (SJ) Floyd.

Shirley devoted 30 years of her life making significant contributions to Moxness Products where she was one of their most dedicated and loyal employees.  She was known for loving her family, cooking, doing crossword puzzles, shopping, avidly following the Real Housewives series (Amethyst, I’ll call you later so we can talk about Oval & Sisters) and eating dilly bars (thank you Deonte – my dilly bar runner). Shirley was a devout member of Gregg Chapel C.M.E Church, under the leadership of Pastor David R. Green.

In 1969, Shirley met John Lewis in which they shared a love that blossomed into a 54-year union of marriage.  In this union, she fulfilled one of her greatest joys in life – parenting, not only her own children but her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Shirley is survived by her loving husband John Lewis; Children Antonio (daughter in law Noelle), Antoinette Cherel and Karen Goodwin all of Racine, WI and Vanessa Dumas of Stonewall, MS.  Grandchildren Amethyst (Deonte) and Armani Goodwin, Kasant Wilkerson II, Karl McNeil II all of Racine, WI, Kalondya, Amber, D’Iran, Aaron, Kayton and Addison Dumas all of Stonewall, MS; Great Grandchildren DeZoryon, DeKyrie and Demani Westmoreland all of Racine, WI, Kylan, Braxsten, Messiah and Mason Dumas all of Stonewall, MS.

Sisters Mary Floyd, Racine WI, Carol (David) Showers, Magee, MS, Brothers WC (Vernice) of Mendenhall, MS and Kent Floyd of Magee, MS, Sisters-in-Law Pamela Floyd of D’Lo, MS Janie Floyd of Magee, MS, Shirley Oliver of Racine, WI and Betty Goodwin of Racine, WI, brother-in-law Benny Goodwin of Stonewall, MS, Goddaughter Melissa “Missy” Hargrove of Racine, WI and a host of other relatives and friends.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents CW and SJ Floyd, Sister Sharon Collins, Brothers Norman, Johnny and Charles Floyd, great grandson Princeton Westmoreland and a host of other relatives.

A Love Note –

John Lewis – “Thank You” for so many things in life.  As a unit, we have seen so many beautiful facets in our marriage.  You’ve helped and watched me grow in each phase and I appreciate you more than I could have ever expressed.  “Thank You” for holding my hand as I took my final steps in this earthly life and honoring my last words – “Take Care of My Babies” and “I Love You”.

Antonio, Antoinette and Karen – know that my love for you transcends beyond the boundaries of life and death.  I am grateful for the love and joy you brought into my life.  I ask one favor of you – Take Care of Your Dad!  Karen – remember what I told you – YOU got this!  Cherish the memories we created together and hold each other up.

Family – I LOVE YOU!
