Shirley M. Beck passed away peacefully on Sunday May 17, 2026 at Pleasant Point Senior Living in Racine, Wisconsin. She was just days away from her 99th birthday. She was born in Milwaukee to Theresa and George Beck on May 25, 1927.
Shirley lived most of her life in the Milwaukee area. She retired in 1992 after a long successful career as an office assistant for Wisconsin Bell (now AT&T). She had an interest in the performing arts and especially enjoyed musicals. She learned to play the accordion when she was 13 and helped with several plays as a young woman in Milwaukee. Her favorite movie was the musical “Desert Song” produced in 1953 and she never tired of watching it over and over with friends. She also loved thrift shopping and browsing for unique jewelry and other interesting items. It wouldn’t be surprising for Shirley to win first place in the July 4th dress-up contest at her senior home. Shirley was a faithful member at Grace Presbyterian Church in Bay View, Wisconsin where she especially enjoyed her friends and helping with hospitality on Sundays. She was a loving, caring and generous person. Her witty humor will be greatly missed by family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother Theresa (Schmidt) Peterson, stepfather William Peterson and father, George Beck.
A heartfelt note of thanks to everyone at Hospice Alliance for their compassionate care and support and to the staff at Pleasant Point. May God bless all of you.
Family and friends extend sincere thanks to Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin. Please leave condolences at www.draeger-langendorf.com/obituaries.
