Obituary

Mrs. Shirley Joyce Reshan, 99, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 11, 2026, three days shy of her 100th birthday.

She was born in Dodge County, Wisconsin, on July 14, 1926, the daughter of Edwin and Luella (nee:Larson) Olson. She married the love her life, Thomas W. Reshan, on June 23, 1951, at Grace Lutheran Church in Racine. Shirley's faith was an important part of her life, and she remained a member of the congregation for over 85 years.

Shirley was employed for many years as a secretary with the Unified School District before her retirement. She was known for her kindness, dependability, and warm smile that welcomed everyone she met.

She was a life-time member of the Racine Instinctive Bowmen, and found great joy in ballroom dancing with her beloved husband, Tom. Above all, Shirley cherished the time spent with her family, creating memories that will be treasured for generations. She had a delightful sense of humor and was well known for her jokes, which never failed to bring smiles, laughter, and comfort to family and friends. Shirley will be remembered as a pleasant, joyful woman whose beautiful personality brightened every room she entered. Her gentle spirit, caring heart, and love for others will be deeply missed.

For the past four years, Shirley resided at Reena Senior Living in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin where she enjoyed many friendships.

Shirley is survived by her daughters, Nancy (Thomas) Garchek of Catawba, NC, Lorie (Jeffrey) Bark of Whitewater, WI; her grandchildren Kerryann Kauffold, Andrew (Kristy) Bark,Thomas Garchek, Julie (Brad) Lussier; her step-grandchildren Tracy (Mark) Gates, Paul Garchek; eight great-grandchildren; beloved nieces and nephews, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom; her parents Edwin and Luella Olson hand her sister, LaVerne Krenzke.

A private interment will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026 at West Lawn Cemetery with Pastor David Emmrich officiating. A "celebration of life" will be held on Saturday July 25th at Living Savior Lutheran Church, 1661 Janesville Ave., Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin 53538. The service will begin at 11 am with a lunch to follow at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Rainbow Hospice of Jefferson.
