Stanley A. Ten Cate, 89 passed away at his residence on Wednesday, September 2, 2020. He was born in Holland, MI on November 10, 1930 the son of the late Harry and Sara (nee: Banzalar) Ten Cate.

After graduating high school, Stan served his country with the U.S. Marine Corps. On June 14, 1958 he was united in marriage to Shirley Dryer. He owned and operated Winkler Heating and Air Conditioning for over 50 years, retiring in 2014.  Stan enjoyed watching football, both the Green Bay Packers and the Wisconsin Badgers, fishing, and camping. Most of all, he loved the times he spent with family and friends.

Surviving are his loving wife of 62 years, Shirley; their children, Susan (Jeff) Baker, of Sturtevant, Scott (Dianne) Ten Cate, of Franksville, Sherry Bloom, of Lecanto, FL, Stephen (Kathy) Ten Cate, and Stuart Ten Cate, all of Sturtevant; 12 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; sister, Carol Moroney, of St. Claire Shores, MI; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Richard (Jean) Dryer, of Libertyville, IL; Ginny Dryer, of Antioch, IL, Robert Gillings, of Zion, IL; special cousin, Betty Stried, of MN; and his extended family, the Hindman's. In addition to his parents, Stan was preceded in death by his grandson, Austin Ten Cate, brother and sisters,-in-law, Howard (Darlene) Ten Cate; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Silas and Helen Dryer; brothers-in-law,  Thomas Moroney and Robert Dreyer; sister-in-law, Sharon Gillings; special cousin, Donna Sayle, and his dog and special companion, Duchess.

Service Details

His funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, September 12 ^th at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Warren Williams officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on that Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial, with full military honors, will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park.
